I was wondering what settings may be preferred for the vario of this device by active thermal flying pilots

For thermal flying, most pilots set the vario to respond quickly with minimal audio delay and medium sensitivity so they can catch lift fast without getting overwhelmed by noise.. Keep the audio thresholdd tight so it only beeps when it really matters. Its all about quick, useful feedback without the chatter, jsut tweak until it feels right for your flying style.

On the Flymaster SD, for aggressive thermalling, I prefer a pretty responsive vario setting
This means a shorter integration time (or averaging time, whatever they call it on that specific model)

also, make sure your deadband around zero isn't too wide. you want it to tell you immediately if you hit even a slight lift or sink. my friend even tweaks their sink alarm to be pretty vocal so they know immediately when they're falling out of something
